How do I record an item I know nothing about? Eg. Home made desert made by someone else and given to me

Guess. The thing is - if you're going to eat it repeatedly,you will find the recipe & be more accurate. If it's a one time thing - I will just do a search & then choose the one w/the highest calories from the database.

I also guess a bit... I'll look on the app for something similar and take the higher calorie option to stay on the safe side. My friends all know I'm on this mission, so before they portion for me, they ask how much I want. If they have a scale, I ask to use it and weigh out a small bit (roughly 50-100gr for a dessert - same amount that I have for double cream yogurt). Understanding portion size is absolutely key, and that comes from using a scale regularly.

I do my portioning too but my mother in law just doesn't give a **** when she tries to lose weight everyone has to get on board but when it's me it's like she purposely has to go against it and she is convinced IF is starving urself and does more harm than good. In my opinion she's an idiot but I can't say that to her

Yeah. Probably wouldn't go down well at the family lunch table to call her out on that lol. I understand how hard it is when it feels like someone is trying to sabotage your progress. Just remember, you can always say no thanks, you don't have to eat the whole portion if you don't want to push the boundaries of your intake for the day, or, if it's really lekker, and you do it consciously without guilt tripping yourself later, then enjoy the whole damn portion 🧁
