On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me Nine Ladies Dancing.
So I got up and did Zumba first thing this morning. I'm very excited about Christmas this year (if you couldn't tell). I could use the time off work. Also, I have the cruise to look forward to immediately after Christmas. And, I believe I may have it worked out in my head how I am going to handle being on a cruise and around soooo much food.
So I'm trying intermittent fasting now. I did a 24 hour fast from Saturday evening to Sunday evening and found it wasn't particularly difficult. I'm going to try this every Saturday. I found that it reminded me of what hunger felt like. I've obviously been eating out of habit, routine and boredom lately. It was nice to actually pick up on body signals to tell me when I am hungry. I have considered doing a 24 hour fast 2 days a week, but I'm afraid it will cut too deeply into my caloric intake. I do not want to restrict my average caloric intake more than where it currently is. It was only a day, but I did notice I felt lighter on my feet when I went to run last night. I actually shaved 27 seconds off my mile time. Also, I'm not 100% positive this will work, but on my fasting days, I am going to try to tap into a little more exercise before I eat so that my body will hopefully use my stored fat reserves rather than simply tap into what I recently consumed. I'm hoping this will help to shed some belly fat.
My weight has not substantially changed since last Monday. But, I owe most of this to my intake on Saturday. I am certain I had an extremely high amount of sodium coupled with my calories. Here is the good part: It was one day and only one day. I kicked a bad calorie day's butt on Sunday. And I'm feeling pretty fierce about the rest of this week too. I did join several new challenges to keep me charged and focused. I'm fighting for the 180s. I'm going to get there before this year is over. That wasn't a goal I had set to begin with. But, I believe I can do it. I might be 189.9 on December 31st, but I'm going to get there. Chugging the water this week and going to shoot for a gallon a day. I suspect Christmas Eve will be the toughest day as my family is celebrating with mostly appetizer foods and sweets. Appetizers tend to have a lot of carbs. I'm going to enjoy them though with knowledge that it will likely exceed my RDI on that day but will be balanced out later. In fact, I will need to consider that as my high calorie day and then follow it up with a fast day on Christmas Day. I will work all of that out next week though. I need to focus on this week first.
Happy Holidays!
