Why does my RDI say 2800?
That’s way too high, no?

That does sound too high, but if you're really tall and workout all the time it might be right. You can adjust it back of your find it's making you gain.

No. I’m short. Makes zero sense. Should be 1600 or so. Weird?

Did you maybe put that you were trying to maintain your weight instead of lose weight. I know when I did mine, mine was too high too. I adjusted it back.

If you indicate that you are exercising it adds calories in as an estimated amount of how many you would burn. I ended up setting my own calorie goal.

Mine was too high too so I set my own goal, it’s closer to what FS says is the goal for a sedentary person even though I exercise quite a bit

I find it much too high, I list as sedentary and then go about 100 calories lower. There are other sites that do better RDI calculations. 1500-1600 calories works best for me.

I wrote to lose weight. 2 pounds a week. And I even went all the way down to Sedentary and it’s still 2200?? How can I lose weight on 2200 a day.

With time and your tracking, it will become clearer. I agree it seems high.

to the contrary I would follow it, and exercise 3 -4 times a week. make sure the calories are coming from healthy protein and carbs. keep fats low aim for 150 minutes a week in cardio. you should lose body fat. weight loss should be slow and permanent. no saggy skin for you because you will recomp your body.

Mine is 1400 and I think that’s too high - 1200 is better fit I thought since I’m not very active right now

I think mine is 2900 and I try to eat 1200. My fit bit is linked to the exercise tracker. I feel I'm working the program if my calorie deficit is at least 1500 every day. Beware, fit bit's estimated calorie burns are uber generous. If you use it to eat at a 500 cal/day deficit to lose a lb a week, I think you'll find yourself gaining. Yep. Mine is 1800 but I'm completely sedentary thanks to a series of knee surgeries I'm in the middle of. I'm just sticking to 1000 - 1200 instead.

Seems like everybody sets their own and ignores the FS recommendation. Set it where you think it's right and if need be, you can adjust it. I think I just typed in a number.

The thing is if we just pick our own number, how do we know how to adjust it as we lose weight?
