Over the past 6.5 years, I've ridden my recumbent bike as a means of exercising my heart and keeping my legs strong. During that time I've traveled 12796 miles, and the last 2 years averaged about 3500 miles per year. Generally, that amounts to about 90 minutes per day on the bike. Today, I ended and set a personal best for a month having ridden 499.60 miles. It is crucial for me to ride since I want my heart to stay strong. In addition, I gain weight when I do not exercise.
And, during the month of November, I dropped a net of 4.6 pounds. That includes all of the extra eating during Thanksgiving. Although my spouse is fine with my current weight, my goal is to take off another 10 pounds and be at 175. As I move forward on losing that weight, even though Christmas / New Year's may have a short-term negative impact, then I will consider it a very successful year weight-wise.
It's an ongoing journey and challenge.
