How about intermittent fasting? I stop eating around 8 in the evening, then if I wait till noon for breakfast that gives me 16 hours of fasting. With 8 hours to eat I can have 2 or 3 meals. I choose 2 with a snack. It's very healthy and my brain is better when I do this. It's even more important as we get older. I'm very addicted to high carbs and sugar and a just getting back "on the wagon". This is only day 4 for me without sweets. Intermittent fasting helps me hold the line and since it is just part of the day, I can manage it. I don't fast for days like some people.
