Took a break from pentesting to run, I am so tired of being at a desk this week. Does not bode well for my future career plans. How much would it suck to graduate and decide I hate to actually work in my field?

No matter what you do, it will still be work, so parts of it are going to suck. I love teaching, but parts of it do truly suck. Get your degree and you will have more options than you think if you find you don't like your job. It is often surprising how little your major matters for many jobs. Granted you may have to add a few courses to change careers, but sometimes the new employer will cover the cost of that.

I agree! The real world is easier than jumping hoops for the degree!

One day at a time...one day at a time...one day at a time...is mantra
that is always good...and especially on days when our future may
seem uncertain. Lot of wise insights posted above. You are a very
common sense & caring person. Any company would be fortunate .tk have you
as a team member.

You have come this far! We all have good and bad days at whatever we do. If the track you are on doesn't work out for you, at least you can chalk it up to a life experience. There are other doors to open. You will find your niche, no doubt about it. Sometimes it just takes a little longer.

The word is "balance". There is a time to sit at a desk and a time to run. I have faith you'll get there.

Lol, not that bad...it happens all the time. I know a tons of people that feel like that after they get their degree. They make it especially harder today because most start to require a Master's degree. As everyone else said, it's just that some days are probably better than others. Don't give up Nicholaix!

Hang in there Nicholaix :) You never know where your degree(s) will take you, might be a whole different direction than you are anticipating :) My case in point, I have an AS in Design Drafting, a BS in Mechanical Engineering, almost done with my Masters in Training and Human Performance Improvement, headed to my PhD in Leadership...and I just moved on from a job as a Subscription/Distribution Manager for a magazine to pursue my own personal business ventures. Life is so unpredictable sometimes...I hope your degree soon leads you to happy balance (as BuffyBear said) :)

I am still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up! I admire that you are out there earning your degree. Finding a job that suits you will come. Just keep chugging along. :)

I'm 65 and haven't figured it out either. Guess I'll just keep chugging along being me. I figure my job does not define me. It's a job and pays the bills.
