Even with the late start, I got 24 miles into the 30-mile challenge, not counting the 5 mile bonus I weaseled out of MattRide 😜 But today...is not happening. I'm just tired and scratchy and headachy enough that my best option is to lie flat (doing), take zinc and vitamin c (done) and chow down on carbs (also doing). I know a lot of people push through with mild colds, but I know my body well enough to know that's a bad idea. I can usually shake it at this point if I take it easy, but the quickest way for me to turn the hint of a possible cold into a major, coughing snotfest is to push through. Maybe next week, MattRide!

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone 😊❤️ I'm better today, so I think I dodged it. I'm still not going to get over-ambitious today. They're calling for a good possibility of afternoon thunderstorms up top today, so I doubt we'll risk a hike. I do want to get a walk in, but not a huge one. I'll eat on the starchier side today, but try to reel in the calories to normal and cut back the sugar. I always have this weird guilt when I lay flat for a day like that and overeat, but I find if I do it when I'm just barely teetering on the edge of a cold, I can avoid getting a full blown one. Before last fall, I went 6 whole years without a real cold with this strategy. Even though my logical brain says it makes more sense to take a day off intentionally to avoid getting flattened for at least a week, society and my internal critic kind of say to suck it up, buttercup. Gotta disregard that voice and do what's right for me

Great you feel better and take a great care ! Please take a rest for a day of recovery! I do the same 1 day every week. We are in for a long lifespan program, still have 19 more weeks to go for me 😁 I’ve done my 100km so I’m mowing lawn and cleaning today (#1 step to be in the 5 percent💪🏽 i. e. OCD haha )

Glad to hear it, Danana! MattRide, I'll take that advice and take it easy. I think the two back to back hikes this week kicked my butt. My athletic husband always tells me that rest is the most important part of exercise
