That's a lot of water. I aim for 8 cups a day, unless it's summer and I'm working out hard. There is a thing as too much water, but go with how your body feels.

Actually that's bad. There is such a thing as water poisoning (people have died from drinking too much water). You are killing your kidneys and depleting your body of potassium, electrolytes and other things that keep you alive.

You can die from drinking that much water, that's crazy.

If you're extremely active, then I don't see too much of a problem with drinking that much water, but if you aren't than I can see all that water becoming a problem.

wow...are you working out rigorously and in extreme weather conditions or drinking at home on the sofa? I hope the former -- good luck to you :-)

I looked it up once and you have to drink around 6 gallons to hurt yourself. This was the first time I drank that much in 8 hours. I felt like I needed to eat so I used water instead of food along with chewing sugar free gum.

Interesting strategy. Maybe when your body gets used to fewer calories, you won't have to work quite as hard to distract it. This could get you there.

Sometimes when I can't get my mind off of food, I'll eat a small healthy portion of some kind of good protein - perhaps a few ounces of chicken or a serving of fat free cottage cheese and fruit, and then I'll go and find something to do - either some kind of exercise or something I need to do around the house like go through my over-stuffed file cabinet or organize something. That usually helps. I also find that if I drink about 8 oz's of water about every hour or so, that's a good amount (unless I'm exercising - then I might have 16-24 oz's during a good workout)

Also, I think the body needs SOME food - small portions of something healthy throughout the day if anything works better than going without food - going without eating actually has the opposite effect on weight loss. Going without eating makes the body hold on to calories instead of burning them - it's sort of like your body thinks, "Oh no! I've got no calories coming in - I'd better store the ones that I DO have in the form of fat within my cells so that I don't starve..." IOW, not eating makes the body start to think that it's going to starve so it conserves cals rather than burns cals. Anyhow, that's what I've been taught.

Latest thinking, and I agree with it, is that you should drink half your body weight in ounces of water. As our weight goes down, so too does our need for so much water. I do follow this and I feel much better when I do; I can definitely tell a difference on the days I haven't had enough.
And you're doing WAY better than 'not bad' !!
