Thought I should say hello. I'm a 75, single Australian woman, who doesn't exercise at all, I work from home as a trad-pubbed author so sit in front of a computer all day.
I need to lose at least 17g (37lbs). Always been a well-padded woman but recent cancer medication saw my weight skyrocket. Thankfully I've changed meds and hope I can get back under 100kg, ideally I'd be happy to reach 95kg.

Hi Suzy. Something that has helped me has been going for regular walks. When I was first diagnosed with heart failure about two years ago I could barely walk 100m. My weight ballooned (I was also on a lot of meds). Steady walking now a few times a week. Now up to a few kms at a time. Even the odd bushwalk. Just take it slow and be kind to yourself.

@Rochman8 - great idea except the meds, side-effects from radiotherapy, and arthritis in my feet, mean I have enough trouble just walking to my letter-box and back...lol

It was the same for me. Swollen, painful feet and lower legs filled with fluid. Some days I couldnt walk up the steps at the back of my house to the road. However other days I could. First I started with just 100m. Took me about 10 mins with lots of rests. Then next time a bit further. Took me a few months but on good days i can now do about an hour. I have lost 7kgs so far. Still lots left to go. Good luck.

Rochman8 I'm not sure I'm writing this where I should but I just wanted to say thank you for your comments. I found them most helpful. Like AuthorSuzy, my life is very sedentary. Some days I am unable to get out of bed others I can do light things around the house. I get embarrassed that I can't walk any distance. I have often thought I should start with a 5~10 minute walk and see if I can build up to a bit longer and further. Someone like yourself saying it can be done gives me hope. I am just starting my weight loss journey/routine after several starts and stops. I'm glad I have found this community. And, yes I'm another Aussie. KerryKnits

Thanks @Rochman8. Radiotherapy sure knocks you about...lol. @kate34567 Thankfully I live alone so I can 'move' at my own pace. I'm not going to push myself, just taking each day as it comes.

I certainly empathise with the cruel effects of cancer treatments AuthorSuzy. I am a 21 year survivor of NHL. It’s a rough journey. Been following Bill Nott from Alaska on YT. He started at 700 pounds, had problems with lymphoedema and uses a vibration plate with good success. Lost over 250 pounds in a year. Inspirational story. Good luck with your journey.

Welcome Suzy! You are on the right path and taking that first step is the biggest one. I sit all day behind a desk too but my job isn’t as fascinating as yours. Have you had anything published? I love to read maybe I’ve read some of your stuff. Anyway all the best on your treatment and weight loss journey. Here if you need any support x

Hi @Lize74. Thanks for the support. Yes, I'm published, I have a publisher. So far I have had 29 novels published and I have contracts signed for another 6 written, which will be out sometime next year.

Thanks @Robbiejoh, I still get so excited when I sign a contract or a book is released. This is my second publisher and I love them, they are the best...lol

Hi Suzy - I’m Australian and retired after COVID saw my tour business slump. I’ve got a LOT of weight to lose and have just this morning decided to start a group for women following the late Dr Michael Mosley’s Fast800 Keto plan.
