I need some guidance please from those more wise than I. I am doing my best to keep staying on track with my eating regiment. However, I am finding myself eating more almonds to take place of the sweet junk food i have ate in the past several weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions on if that is a good idea or should I switch over to fruit or something? Please help!!!!!

I think a lot of it depends on your diet plan. If you're low-carbing you don't want to add much fruit, but if you're strictly calorie counting, low-glycemic fruits (berries, melon) could hit the spot... If you are not carb-adverse pistachios have far fewer calories but more carbs.

You might also try Greek yogurt with a fruit extract and stevia with just a couple of crushed almonds. Good protein, filling, and can help with that sweet tooth.

Also, nuts are great if they are pre-measured! You can buy 100-calorie packs or buy nuts in bulk then measure out into snack-sized Ziploc bags. Otherwise, it's really easy to load up on calories.

I agree with others. I try to stick to 1 or 2 serving of nut, seeds and nut butters everyday. I sometimes do a half serving at a time that way I can eat my nuts/seed 2 or 3 times though out the day.

I am definitely not wiser BUT I've gotten so tired of the way I've been eating so I've changed it up a bit. I've started with a trainer and am not going to weigh until April. Instead of LCHF I am eating more protein, still LC, in the hope of building more muscle. I have been spinning my wheels, not getting anywhere. I got my macros off of OKL. Sometimes we (I) need to try different things...

I am also in the same boat NM...however my weakness is cashews..., if they aren't around I don't miss them, but if they are there I have a hard time keeping my daily serving size to just an once. Maybe try a nut that isn't as appealing to you taste or texture wise. For me almonds I like AND I have no problem just eating a 1/2 once to 1 once depending on my other intake. Good luck, you are still doing great!!l

Get the nuts out of the house? We keep ours in the freezer, so they are harder to get at. I agree that they are a temptation. I can't limit those cashews - way to carby and addictive!

I feel you. Nuts are healthy, but they are calorie dense. My weakness is Dry Roasted Peanuts. I keep a bin of radishes as mindless nibbles in their place.

I don't know... I manage to count them out and put away. I'll have 5 halves of walnuts 8 pecan halves every now and then. My dh had been bringing home snack sizes of cashews almonds and peanuts but I hardly eat them which is good. I think you just have to build a resistance to over eating as w anything.

OH oh the evil nut! ADDICTIVE "NUT CRACK" I call them. Put a bowl of nuts in front of me and there is NO WAY I am eating just a few. I don't have the will power to keep them in the house. They are simply too high in calories. If you are looking for snacks, you may want to try making kale chips and making raw crispy veggies wrapped in lettuce leaves.

You have done an AMAZING job with your weight loss and getting your life on track. It doesn't appear that eating almonds has harmed you. They are good for you and good source of fiber. So, I would say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Is the other concern the "sweet junk food" that you've enjoyed over the last several weeks? I think that the almonds are much better for you than sweet junk food. You've come such a long way! You can find other snack foods to maybe supplement the almonds?

in a month I have gained only 4 lbs back. as for the almonds, I don't eat them all the time nor everyday. I just eat them when I have the urge for sweets and then I keep my intake to about 2oz. I plan on getting back to the gym because I think maybe that will help curb my hunger and my want to sweet stuff. what yall think?

You could try making cloud breads. I make them in all flavors and they are only 2 or 3 carbs (depending on what I add) each. I make cinnamon, apple, berry, it's a wonderful replacement for something sweet.

nuts are healthy but it's still about calories in and burned Almonds add up quickly i love them but don't keep in the house to often because i can't stay out of the bag to many calories daily while i have them hope your will power is better than mine, i switched to steaming vegetables brussel sprouts, carrots, pea pods a lot of food small amount of calories and a hot meal seems more fulfilling

I found that if I eat more fruit it helps with the sugar cravings. Hubby has ice cream, cookies & cereal in the house :( but if I just let myself have the fruit I won't cheat with his stuff. Even if it puts me over my count for the day it's a lot healthier than oreos and ice cream! And I give myself credit for making that decision instead of beating myself up for cheating.
