15 years ago I lost 27 pounds in 16 weeks, I slowly put it back on, most of it (plus a few more) in the last 10 years, so I started again. I gave myself a goal of 25 pounds in 20 weeks, that 20 weeks ends tomorrow. I didn't make it, but I'm close(ish) - a little over 20 pounds lost. I'm not displeased with that, it's really more than I thought I would do.
I've taken 6 bags of clothes that are now too big to a local thrift store and I'm wearing jeans from the "maybe someday" drawer! I'll keep working on the last 5 pounds and then reset my goal by 10 pounds until I've lost 50 pounds. It will probably take at least a year to do it all, but it will probably take me that long to save up to buy a new wardrobe and I'll need it by then.
On a bright note I finally found my pedometer (while looking for something completely different), got new batteries and walked the trail I've been doing for the last 20 weeks and yes, it is a mile. It shows 100 calories burned doing it, so that's 14000 calories or 4 pounds just in walking - YAY!
So for those who are struggling, DON'T GIVE UP, it can be done!!
