I have a nearly14,000 calorie surplus for the month of December so I've gained the amount of weight that the simple math of calories in versus energy expended would indicate. I see two major areas for improvement.
First I need to plan my meals and work my plan. if I don't eat three reasonable meals a day I often find myself gorging on whatever is handy later in the evening rather than just having a reasonable before bed snack.
Second, and more difficult because it challenges millenia of human history is how do I eat responsibly when I go over to my niece's house, which I do quite regularly because they live close. I love her dearly and I love her daughters dearly. My niece's grandmother, my sister-in-law's mother, survived world war II in Eastern Europe and expressed her love by making unreasonable amounts of food and expected that you would reciprocate that love by eating unreasonable amounts of food. That tradition has carried down to my niece. I don't seem to be able to find a way to navigate the challenge of maintaining a calorie deficit on days when I visit her. Forget a calorie deficit, even just a slight surplus would be a victory. If anyone has similar challenges and have found ways to effectively address them please share.

I went on a vacation to celebrate my step-mother's 90th birthday in September and left off tracking my intake until I gained 5.5 lbs in November. Until that time I had a good string of months of either maintaining or losing and checked my monthly deficit or surplus of calories, but now that I'm trying to do that again I can't seem to find that page in either the web page nor the app on my phone.
Is there someone who can please show me the path?

I have not been recording intake for the past two plus months and it has caught up with me. I'll commit to recording and building in a calorie deficit for the month of December. The once a month weigh in still seems best for my psychological make up.
