Sadly, it appears many people on this site prefer focusing on fads and not facts. There is no magic bullet to weight loss. No need to fast, or eat strange things. In fact, it is very, very simple. CREATE A CALORIC DEFICIT. Nothing more.
To create a caloric deficit, you need to first determine your caloric maintenance level which you can do with a calculator like this:

Then determine how fast you want to lose the weight vs how much hunger you can tolerate. Once you have that figured out, all you need to do is eat less calories than your maintenance level and YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT. SIMPLE.
The less calories you eat below your maintenance level, the faster you lose the weight. Where those calories come from is irrelevant.
