Not sure what caused the drop, but this is the lightest I've been all year. Mountain biking? Getting back to near-veganism? Not sure.

I've stopped tracking food and am trying to eat intuitively, based on what I've learned from tracking for so long. Hoping this time I can finally take those training wheels off.

Thanks, Morticia! Just gotta keep going here trying to do the right things 😊 I wasn't expecting to weigh in as low as I did today, because I had a bit of a food blowout yesterday. Happy Sunday to you!

Maybe it's the near veganism. I know I lose weight if I eat mostly plants

It might be, Fritzy. That's how I got from 150 to 130. I strayed into junk food veganism for a bit with vegan cheese, and had a few bouts of "the effits" this year, but getting back to what works. I've also incorporated strength training. My big motivator for cutting out animal protein is I just got bloodwork done, and I find my lipids and kidney functions go in the wrong direction when I start eating more of it

When I started strength training, I lost another 10 lbs. I've maintained pretty well while averaging 1800-1900 calories a week.

Maintenance is tricky. I cannot quit logging my food or I eventually think I can eat whatever...I hope you are successful! I think the bike riding, which is very cardio, may have been why you lost weight. I think you are doing great!👏👏

SherryeB -- could be part of it. Oddly, I lost my weight on 1800 calories without exercising consistently, even though every calorie calculator seemed to think I should be gaining on that. 🤔 I was hiking and skiing when I could, but was a slug the rest of the time

Thanks, Diana! Yeah, maintenance is a whole different mind game. I looked back at my weight graphs in Google Fit. In 2022, when I was losing, it was a smooth decline down to goal. In 2023 and 2024, there were all sorts of peaks and valleys, all above the initial goal. I go back and forth on tracking, and tend to resume it when I get unacceptably high. I'm truly hoping I can discontinue it for good

I've found that I MUST ride my recumbent bike about 80 minutes a day in order to maintain or lose weight. My spouse is a major support and prepares excellent meals,...though we do cheat sometimes. Happy you have found a really good combination. That is always a positive.

We all cheat sometimes, Bionici. 😉 Better to give yourself a little grace and wiggle room rather than go all or nothing -- the typical end of that is nothing. Glad you've found what works for you. TBH...my recent focus on upping my activity level is driven in part by my desire to have a few more calories to play with, as I'm seriously into good food 🤣
