Had earlier set a goal of being under 243 pounds by September 1st. Despite going to a couple of buffets, I am on track to reach that goal at the rate I am losing.
I have been following If It Fits Your Macros for my age, sex, weight, and activity level. Spent some time yesterday planning my meals and macros for the week. Got a sense of satisfaction on having all my values line up after some tweaking.
I do modify the macros to incorporate the Greek Orthodox fasting calendar into my diet. I do this not for religious benefits, but because of the benefits of periodic animal protein deprivation. I read about it in ANTIFRAGILE by Nassim Nicholas Taleb, then did some of my own research. It is difficult to get adequate (here, ~180 g on a 2400 kCal daily allowance) protein from plant sources alone. This week, I was able to make my two "vegan" Greek fast days, Wednesday and Friday, have around 95 g of protein. Then I made my values average by upping my protein consumption with extra chicken breasts that Thursday and Saturday.
In addition to following my macros, I exercise by walking 90 min (or 4 miles) five times a week.
I plan to follow my macros to the letter over the next fortnight, then check back in here to report on my progress with a weigh-in.
