3.1 miles walked yesterday, just a portion of that with doggies; 1.2 miles walked today, all with doggies, in anticipation that I'd get a good workout mowing the lawn in this heat.....and boy, was I right! There was just a bit of cloud cover when I started (thought the rain was not far away), but it moved somewhere else and left me in the sun. I've been in the pool and got all cleaned up, but I can sure tell I've been WORKED OUT!
Yesterday, I MADE MY WEIGHT GOAL!!!!! In only a mere 2 years, 15 weeks and a handful of days....but who's counting??? LOL! And....the weight held today, even edging downward a bit. Basically, it works out this way....90 pounds in 119 weeks. That's .756-lb/wk....or 39.33 lbs/yr........or 3.28 lbs/mo. Losing just over 3/4-lb/wk for this long time period (on the average, of course), to me, is losing at a very nice clip!!
These stats will go on my bio so anyone who reads it realizes that weight loss TAKES TIME. It still gets to me when I read about people expecting to lose 30 pounds by Labor Day or getting into a challenge that averages 5 pounds per week. I would have liked to have done that too, but I also refused to cut back on my calories to such an extent that it was unsustainable in the long-term.
What did I eat yesterday....my first day at goal weight? The very same stuff I'd been eating all along. Will I make some changes? Sure. Maintenance requires more fat and possibly a FEW more carbs, depending on my tolerance. I'm looking forward to testing out some of the items a bit higher on the Carb Ladder....the foods I'd been afraid to test out while still trying to lose...afraid they'd stall out my losses and make this journey even longer.
Even though I told my doctor I'd go on Maintenance after getting to goal, I'm extending the "loss" part of this journey to the end of the month. If I can drop another pound or two, great. If not, that's fine too. But as of August 1, I'll be on Maintenance for real until I get bloodwork done after the new year.
