I only ate around 450 calories yesterday and even though i was NOT hungry my friends and fam tell me i HAVE to eat at least 1200 calories a day or i will stop losing weight and will actually start gaining it back because my body will go into starvation made. Is that true? I am just really motivated and i want the weight off in as little time as possible. I don't see the problem as long as i am not hungry. WOuldn't my body be telling me if it was going to go into starvation mode? I mean i weigh 170lbs i think i am a LONG ways from starving. Also, i got my visitor yesterday (early) is that because of all the exercise i have begun doing? Does this factor affect my weight? I am just confused because i want to do this the right way and the healthiest way for my body anyone have any thoughts?

You will mess up your metabolism long term this way. The best way to diet is to not diet and to make life time changes. That is why you gained all your weight back, as you did not make it a lifestyle change the last time. Any one can diet and lose weight. The key is to keep it off. That is what I am working on.

I know.. My question is should i eat all the food even if i am not hungry. Force feed myself. I did keep my weight off before for 6 months after my final weigh in at LA, and then i just started eating crap again. Thanks for the info. And good luck keeping yours off.

I think this program has too much emphasis on eating all the food all the time and not focusing on hunger, something that I am monitoring closely. Try to review your food journal for trends. Perhaps you can eat most of your calorie intake earlier in the day...if eating late is a problem for you or vice versa. I have found that 5-6 small meals work best for me. Also working out is really important. Not just for toning and muscle building but also for bonedensity, stress relief & mental outlook.

I've learned through the program that at first I felt like I was gorging and still lost weight and now my body is used to the amounts of food and I get hungrier quicker and fill up on less food. Basically I just eat smaller portions throughout the day. It is important to eat more than just 450 calories a day. Like altoannie said, it will really mess you up in the long run. You'll see the weight fall off in the beginning and then your body will conserve every little bit it can since it "knows" it won't get any more. If you're really so full that you can't put another thing in your mouth try higher calorie, smaller portions. Like instead of light bread use regular so you have to eat less. The most important thing is to get into the mind set that even eating 1200 calories a day will make you lose weight no question. That is not a lot of calories at all. When you gained your weight back you could have been eating twice that daily.

well for one thing you sorta answered your own question when you said you started eating crap again. Fast food is full of salt and fat and everything you don't need. And YES eating that little is going to put your body into starvation mode and you will put on weight instead of gain. It's also not safe to lose it as fast as you can. A couple pounds a week is good, not a 10 lb drop all at once.

I agree with all of the posts. You've got to re-train yourself into eating good healthy things. I'm a firm believer in making good choices. I can speak from experience. Prior to LAWL, I had never dieted (except for one stint on Atkins) and I have spent the last 7 months re-training my decision making skills. You need to eat more than 450 calories, if nothing else, because you CANNOT survive on 450 cal/day for the rest of your life. You can, however, have a very healthy remainder of your life, while eating good things all day long. Just like the plan suggests. Z

Thanks to all who have commented. I did some research and I found proof that it slows down your metabolism. I will eat more, i guess i just have a fear of overeating because i am not hungry until i start eating..... does that make sense? I appreciate all the advice Kudos to all and good luck on your own journeys!!!
