Fathers' Day was yesterday, and it was a lovely afternoon. Originally mum had asked where I'd like to go for a meal, "Do you want me to book at the Chinese place you like?"
*sigh*
Birthdays, family days etc ALWAYS mean, food. Add to that an anorexic daughter and it's more of a task than a celebration. A) why does it always mean food? B) Why can't I just be easy and go wherever?
I said that dad should pick the place, after all it IS Fathers' Day. I did however, come up with La Porchetta in the end as there's something for everyone, even if I only had a salad (no dressing). It turned out just great, it was a late lunch early dinner and that is such a great way to take care of the evening meal. Not as hungry, a snack will suffice. I ordered minestrone (no oil drizzled on top please), but apparently the soup had a bit of oil in it. Panic! I thought I'd been pretty easy this time, ordering quickly, not grilling the waitress for an hour about every single ingredient. I ran to the waitress asked about the pumpkin soup (I liked and said I was on a diet for health reasons and couldn't tollerate much fat) she had to check. I took a deep breath and braved it, "Tell you what, just ask the chef which has more oil in it, and I'll have that one". The pumpkin soup was nice, and you could tell it was more water based (not sure there was any dairy in it at all actually).
B/friends later that night, and a 10pm snack on 4 corn cakes and a glass of baileys.
