ARGH. If this actually becomes an injury I SWEAR—

Okay. So, I didn't go for a run at noon because I knew I had to send out my tax checks later today, so I figured I'd actually run to the post office. It's an exact two mile run. I hadn't run that far in months, so I took it nice and slow. It was also a little warmer than what I usually run in. I did all right, though, and I feel amazing.

So, you're probably wondering why I said the bad I-word up there. Well, my body feels amazing. My lungs feel amazing. I've got post workout after glow. It's my ankle that has an injury.

The exact two mile route goes by a couple of big, beautiful, architectural Catholic churches. On my way to the post office, firefighters were just arriving on scene to one of them engulfed in flames. :( On the way back (where the back had started to cave in, my designer self was almost in tears), they had finally roped everything off. I was forced to go through a patch of grass to go around the roped off area. Apparently the sprinklers had just gone off because the grass was soaking wet. I slipped and rolled my left ankle.

I stopped for a second and shook it, felt the tendons, bounced on it lightly a couple times. Your normal throbbing but it felt okay. Not painful. I am a master of rolling ankles (I have some really loose tendons), so I've done this before and I know when they're bad. I also know that when I roll my ankles the muscles really tighten up and that's half my pain. Deciding that it felt all right, I lowered my pace to almost a crawl and jogged the last two blocks to prevent the tightening up of the muscle. I stretched it out when I got back and took a shower.

Eugh, it's one of the worst rolls I've done. Heck, it might not even be just a roll; it could be a strain. It's throbbing and the muscles attached to the ankle that run all the way up your lower leg are painful, too. It's elevated, iced, and every 20 minutes I get up, rub it a little, stretch it, and then take a walk around the apartment. Like I said, the tighter it gets, the more it's gonna hurt.

If this still hurts in two days I'm going to cry. I'm just now getting back some endurance; I can't let this work go to waste!

Update: It hurts more as time passes...but it isn't swollen at all! It's actually one of the more painful ankle injuries I've ever had (and I've had a lot of ankle injuries). ARGH.

This is not unexpected. Birthday weekend. Three days of above RDI with yesterday being a right-on-par day. And to only gain one pound this weekend?! Not bad!

I'm actually kinda excited about this because the scale moved. The scale hadn't moved in a month, so to see it do something was nice. I'm hoping that after four days of being a piggy my metabolism is back up pretty high and this pound will melt off and then keep going. Seriously, I just want in the 120s. C'mon.



More good news: it's grocery day. This means that for a week I will be eating uber healthy. I try to go to the grocery store every 10 days or so because that's when I start compromising my healthy eating habits because the salads, the strawberries, the cucumbers, the grapes are all gone. For the first week I still have a very bountiful supply of fruits and veggies and lean meat, and I have basically no temptations to eat cookies or tater tots or things of the sort.

Also, while I'm still my own boss, I'm going to start going during the day because I don't have to have a strict 9-5 schedule all the time. You get so much better produce if you get there before everyone goes at 5, 6 PM. Last time I had the best strawberry choices in the world!



I think I might do a double exercise day today. It's the PERFECT temperature to go for a run (67 right now, so probably about 73 around noon, when I'll get back), so I think when I get back from the grocery store I'm going to go for a mile run around the neighborhood. I'm hoping to hit up the gym tonight for arms and another short run, but if I don't get to it that's fine because I got a run in today and I can do some lunges, squats and yoga poses to end out my night.



My stomach is starting to look GOOD. I can see the faint start of cut lines and I'm losing my belly pooch. Poolside at the Rio, here I come!

No cake was consumed, but I still had a pretty caloric birthday weekend.

On Saturday I ate pretty lightly throughout the day and didn't eat a ton while at the lake party, keeping it just to a brat on a bun with a whole bunch of fresh fruit (oh, and two small cookies). I did drink but I tried to keep it light on the mixer, so I cut probably somewhere around 200 calories. My friend didn't bring cupcakes like I thought she might, but I'm suspecting now she knows I'm on a diet and decided to get me a bit bigger present than giving me calories. I'm grateful whether it was looking out for me or not.

On Sunday, my birthday, a friend and I went out to breakfast, but I didn't eat the toast. I did buy Pizza Hut later that night because it's my birthday, I had to! I did get a personal pan and some breadsticks and am eating the leftovers today. Last night I went out with a friend I haven't seen in forever and had four beers, so that was pretty calorie-ridden, but it could have been much worse I guess.

I think I'll weigh myself tomorrow because I'm kinda scared, to be honest. I didn't do poorly but I know I blew over my RDI yesterday. I might have been close on Saturday. We'll see.

So starts a very calorie ridden weekend. It's birthday weekend!

I'm going to try to do my drinks with liquor + diet soda to lower down the caloric intake, but there will be shots in there somewhere, cupcakes will probably be consumed, and other foods will tie me down. Well, it's not like my scale will reflect is ANYWAY because I'm convinced it's stuck at 131. ;)

I still don't know what we're doing tomorrow because the weather has not been accurately predicted in four days and is jumping all over the place (94 on Wednesday, 52 on Friday....thunderstorms yesterday morning and bright sunshine yesterday afternoon...). It might not involve food which would be better on my diet...



Speaking of weather changes, we're still going out to that party on the lake today but it doesn't look like beachin' will be happening. The sun hasn't been out and it's only 70 degrees. However, that will be naked arms or legs weather, and I'm wearing an outfit I've been stoked to wear for a couple months! A pair of boyfriend style jeans, low on the hips with a loose, thick strapped grey tank. Slouchy. It looked so good in the picture where I discovered the outfit, and I think I'm going to wear it today because my arms look amazing. I'm almost more excited about that than the actual party! XD



With only one day left to the "big day", I finally got my Happy-birthday-to-myself present: a thick sterling silver geometric ring that I got 40% off at Fab.com. It's an invite only design site kinda like Groupon. I didn't think I was going to be able to get it because I have such tiny fingers, but to my surprise they had a size five! Seriously, there's only one finger where I can wear your normal sized rings (and by that I mean size 5) and that's my right ring finger (and that's only partly because the knuckles larger due to a couple old basketball jamming injuries). My high school class ring was a size 2! I can't quite fit into that right now, but all my fingers are 3 and 4 with the exception of that one finger. It's so hard to find cool, cheap rings in my size.
